Ellie Kamphuis

Ellie Kamphuis is a lover of the natural beauty of Aotearoa, New Zealand and has recently taken on the role of trustee with the Tākaka Hill Biodiversity Group Trust. Raised in rural Auckland, Ellie has always had a deep connection with and passion for nature.

After spending time abroad in Scotland with her husband Charlie, Ellie returned to New Zealand to build an off-grid home on Tākaka Hill. Her upbringing in rural Auckland, where she enjoyed playing with her sisters in the Taiere and Pururi forest remnant on her parent’s lifestyle block, instilled in her a love for the natural world and a desire to protect it.

Currently studying psychology and sociology, Ellie brings a unique perspective to her Trustee role, offering valuable insights into how to address biodiversity decline in New Zealand. As a younger member of the Trustee team, she provides a fresh and innovative outlook on conservation efforts and approaches, contributing to the trust’s mission in a meaningful and unique way.

In addition to her environmental work, Ellie is a talented artist, musician and website developer. Her artistic skills have been instrumental in creating the Trust’s new website and logo, showcasing her creativity and unwavering dedication to the cause.

With her deep-rooted passion for nature, artistic talents and academic background, Ellie Kamphuis is a valuable and committed addition to the Tākaka Hill Biodiversity Group Trust, working hard towards a more sustainable and biodiverse future for Aotearoa, New Zealand.
